Neff was founded in 1877 by Carl Andreas Neff. In 1914 Neff made it's first gas oven. In 1955 Neff developed an oven with a thermostat to control the temperature. In 1957 Neff introduced the first microwave oven, followed in 1957 by the first induction hob. In 1961 Neff introduced the first integrated cooker in Europe. By the 1970's it was expanding to produce a full range of integrated appliances for fitted kitchens. 1971 saw the release of the Circotherm system which circulates hot air around the oven to more effectively distribute heat. Recent innovations from the German brand include the Slide and Hide Door and steam assisted cooking. Good Housekeeping Magazine has awarded Neff's products their stamp of approval on a number of occassions.
Neff products are made in Bretten in South East Germany, not far from Stuttgart. Appliances are made in a custom built, state of the art, 105,000 square meter factory. Employing over 13,000 people Neff are the largest employer in the area.
