Comb filters improve the resolution and reduces objectionable color defects. Digital Comb Filters produce an improvement over the basic comb filters using digital technology to eliminate more "edges dots" and "dot crawl."

Dolby Digital
Delivers five separate full channels of sound: left, right, centre, rear left, rear right plus a sixth channel devoted to bass - the ".1" of Dolby Digital 5.1. Dolby Digital 5.1 is available from DVDs, Sky+ boxes as well as PlayStation 2 and the Xbox.

Dolby Pro Logic
Delivers four channels of surround sound: left, right, centre and a mono signal shared between the two rear speakers.

Fasttext
A quicker way to access Teletext information by using the red, green, yellow and blue buttons on the remote control.

Flat Screen
There are 3 major advantages of a pure flat screen: Less on screen reflections, less distortion in the corners of the picture and you can watch these TVs from a much wider viewing angle.

HD Compatible
The term HD compatible is used in the UK to indicate that a display device has HDMI capability but with lower than HD-ready resolution.

HD Ready
High Definition Television (HD) uses the latest technology to bring clearer and sharper television pictures. A television carrying the 'HD Ready' label meets the requirements for displaying HD signals.

HDMI CONNECTION
HDMI (High Definition Multi-media Interface) is an industry standard interface. HDMI supports standard, enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable.

IDTV
Receives all of the Freeview channels without the need for a separate adaptor. These include BBC Three, BBC Four, BBC News 24, Sky News, Sky Sports News, ITV2, The Hits, CBBC, CBeebies plus digital radio channels. The TV also has a standard analogue tuner as well.

Picture & Text
Shows picture and text side by side from the same channel

S Video Input
Enables a high quality connection to a video or DVD player with a corresponding output. Delivers a higher quality image by sending the colour and brightness elements down four separate wires.

Virtual Dolby
Virtual Dolby TVs adjust the way the sound emerges from the two stereo speakers on the TV so that your ears are fooled into thinking they are hearing sound from behind them even though there are no rear speakers there. This delivers a better sound than a Nicam TV but is not up to the quality of Dolby Pro Logic or Dolby Digital 5.1.
